BTS: Pig Pen First Look

“A FEW OLD FRIENDS GOT TOGETHER A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND WROTE AND RECORDED 10 SONGS OVER 2 DAYS. WE JUST WANTED TO HANGOUT AND SEE WHAT’S UP.” - Matty

Matty may wear a suit on the outside, but his insides? Still punk.

Introducing Pig Pen. Bringing together notorious Golden Horseshoe musical heroes Wade Macneil, Tommy Major and Daniel and Ian Romano, you may be tempted to call Pig Pen a supergroup.

Their debut show is set for April 25th, 2025, at Sneaky Dee's in Toronto, and is being brought to you by Not Dead Yet.

Sneaky Dee's has been the setting on much of Matty's younger (more debaucherous) times, and has continued to play an important role in supporting not only the bands as a venue but also plays a significant role as one of those iconic places that foster community for outliers in this big city.

Not Dead Yet, and specifically Greg Benedetto, is the Toronto Hardcore Don. They also have been crucial in making a space for not only bands to be supported and grow, but for people to feel supported and grow too.

"A musician is nothing other than a human with an instrument. A venue is nothing more than a room with a PA. A venue with some bodies in it can become something that reshapes how people see the world.

If you can get people together, things can happen. Things can change. Things can get better. There’s a different future available if you’re willing to put in work." -NDY Substack #22 Do It Yourself

Having this show in this space with these people may not be the biggest of projects Matty is attached to, but it is the closest to all the elements that made him and what he still holds as the most important. We hope you get to see it and listen for yourself.
